So, now it is Wednesday and my 5th day in Antigua. We met most all of the volunteers the other night at the local hangout bar...it is a fun and interesting group of people from all over the world. Tonight is the weekly ¨darts¨ night...there are two schools that we work in, mine is Santa Maria de Jesus and the other is San Andreas Itzapa, so the entire group of volunteers is together only for Wednesday night and the weekly Friday BBQ at Dom and Doreen´s home...everyone has to bring a food and some wine to share and it sounds like it is always a good time.

I have learned more and more Spanish each day and can tell that it will come a lot quicker here than practicing from books alone at home. Yesterday during our afternoon session we climbed up to Cerra de la Cruz to see a view of the entire city from up above. We had to speak in Spanish the entire time and I felt like it was clicking for me a little! It takes a lot of brainpower doing these 6 hour lessons but I´m having fun speaking to people in the streets with what I know, and having them understand me! I was able to speak to my host family a little more last night...Margo usually has to speak and translate for me, so I can´t wait to be able to say whatever I´m thinking! Gabi and her amigas were having a dance practice in our courtyard last night...so cute watching these little 10 year olds twisting their hips and wrists to central american rhythms!
