Adios comfort zone!

In a little over 24 hours I will be landing in Guatemala and beginning this journey- living with a Guatemalan family in Antigua, learning Spanish and teaching indigenous Mayan children in an impoverished community. This is the epitome of having the butterflies! I feel nervous and a little scared, but more so I feel energized and excited and anxious and (almost) ready. I can't wait until I have the sights and sounds and faces to fill up these bubbles in my mind that I have consciously filled only with my mantra for this trip: "no expectations".

Please have a look at the videos on this link; they are filled with sights, sounds and faces, and are the reason why I am taking this leap of faith: http://www.gviusa.com/life-in-the-field/media-library/volunteer-guatemala/expedition-film#/00076/

Adios comfort zone! Y hola Guatemala!

  1. Hi Karla
I am following your amazing experiences with much envy and awe.
I'll forward this blog to Liam, who showed much interest in reading it; he is teaching kids in Germany a very different experience for sure
